Treehouse Playground is part of Fairview’s story—a place where children explore, friendships grow, and families make memories. From the original wooden playground to its new chapter, it reflects what a community can accomplish when people give their time, talents, and support.
 

The Original Playground: Built by Neighbors

In May 1998, the Fairview community came together to build the original Treehouse Playground. Its wooden towers, tunnels, bridges, and mazes invited children to create their own adventures. Friends of Bowie Nature Park members helped with the build, contributing to a place that would become a treasured part of childhood for many local families.
 

After more than two decades, the original playground reached the end of its lifespan and had to be removed. But the affection for it remained—and inspired the effort to give the next generation a special place to play.
 

The New Playground: A New Generation of Memories

The new Treehouse Playground opened in July 2022, continuing that community tradition with an adaptive play space created to welcome children of different abilities. Its purpose reaches beyond playground equipment: a place to stretch imaginations, enjoy outdoor play, and bring families together. Friends’ impact report
 

The Fundraising Effort: A Community Came Together

Making the new playground possible took a shared commitment. Friends of Bowie Nature Park joined with the City of Fairview, the playground fundraising committee, businesses, and families from Fairview and beyond to support the project.
 

During the 2021 Big Payback alone, the Friends raised more than $30,000 toward the effort. Every contribution helped carry the playground from an idea to a place children could enjoy. We are grateful to the donors, volunteers, and partners who helped make it happen.
